Optical Level Sensors

Optical Level Sensors consist of an infrared sensor and an optical receiver. Light from the sensor is broken by reflection from the prismatic surface and sensed by the receiving unit. Light return intensity changes according to air or liquid cover of the prismatic surface. The change is measured, calculated and triggers the switching outlet. It can be mounted from any angle to the tank, horizontal connection is recommended. It requires less maintenance and is not affected by conductivity or consistence of the liquid.

E-Tilt Level Switches

E-TILT sensors are used vertically. They are used to stop the water leakage by commanding the relay outlet to a solenoid valve or to send a warning signal to a siren.

Cable Level Switches – Float Type

Cabled level switches are used for tank, depot, waste water plant level control in the industrial facilities. They operate without any problem in the this environment with its mechanical design and there is not any jam. Neoprene rubber cable is used for resistance against different liquids and in order that it does not crack in the hot-cold ambient.

Application Fields:
Fish ponds, swimming pools, groundwater, waste mater pools,treatment pools, plunger pump applications, residential water tanks,etc… Water, waste water, diesel, fuel oil, glycerine, gas, nitric acid 10%,acetic acid 10%, formaldehyde 40%, lactic acid 10%, hydrochloride 10%,sulphuric acid 30% etc…

Diaphragm Switches

Level control with a membrane is the most economical method in measurement  of  level of  bulk  material  in  the  storage.  It  can  be used in open and non-pressure tanks. The diaphragm switch can check full, empty and loaded situations of powdered, dusty, corny, granular, grained bulk materials in the grain elevator. It is appropriate for using particles with 0,3 and 2,5 t/m³ and up to max. 30 mm.  The Membrane must be in contact with the material.

Working Principle:
As  long  as  material,  which  is  poured  to  the  grain  elevator, accumulates, the  membrane  is  closed.  The material  pushes  membrane back with composed press and mechanism pushes the contact. Contact  gives  audible  alarm  or sends a signal to stop the  filling mechanism of the grain  elevator.  When the material  precipitates and reduces, the contact reverts back. Precision setting is made during assembly by sliding the mechanism.

Vibrating Rod Limit Switch

The Vibrating Rod Limit Switch for solids is a single element tunned mechanical element-type level sensing device. The electronics excites the piezo-electric-crystals inside tuning rod, which makes the rod vibrate at it’s natural resonance frequency in free air. When the material touches the rod, vibration stops as resonance gets disturbed. Amplitudes of vibration are above threshold when the rod is free to vibrate. Amplitudes of vibration, as sensed by the electronics falls below the threshold, Materials presence is thus detected by observing the amplitude of vibration.

Vibrating rod level limit switches are used as a full, empty and demand alarm in containers, hoppers, silos containing bulks and powders of various types. Typical applications: cereals, beans, edible oil process, sugar, animal feed, rice plants, detergents, dye powder, chalk, gypsum, fly-ash, cement, sand, plastic granules, spices, milk powder etc.

Conductivity Switches

Conductivity level switches are used for checking liquid level of tanks and boilers. As it does not have any movable part, it can be used in the critical ambient and in the liquids with solid particle,
low density and high viscosity.

When liquid leved comes to the level of isolated electrode, current passage starts or stops between electrode andliquid. Strengthened this AC current may be assesed with a relay cirruit.

Application Areas
lt is an economic and safe solution for air pressure tank applications, water level control of steam boilers and conductive tanks.

RF Admittance Level Transmitters

RF admittance is a new level control technology developed from capacitive, anti-hanging material, more reliable, more accurate, and more applicable. It is an upgrade of capacitive level technology.

The so-called radio frequency admittance, admittance means the reciprocal of the impedance in electricity, which is composed of resistive components, capacitive components, and inductive components.

And radio frequency is the high frequency radio spectrum, so RF admittance can be understood as using high frequency Radio wave measurement admittance.

Application Areas

The RF level sensor is used in industrial and mining sites and is suitable for liquid, pulp, powder, oil, and solid measurement liquids.

Magnetostrictive Level Transmitters

The Magnetostrictive level trandmitter consists of three parts: probe rod, circuit unit and float. When measuring, the circuit unit generates current pulse and this pulse transmits downward along the magnetostrictive line and thus generates a ring-form magnetic field.On the outside of the probe rod is a float, which moves up and down along the probe rod with the change of the liquid level.The float also generates a magnetic field due to a set of permanent magnetic inside the float. When the current magnetic field meets the float magnetic field, a “twist” pulse, or “return” pulse, is generated. The time difference between the “return” pulse and the current pluse is converted into a pluse signal, which calculates the actual position of the float and measures the liquid level.

Application Areas

Magnetostrictive Level Transmitters are widely used in liquid level measurement fields such as petroleum and chemical industry. They have gradually replaced other traditional sensors and become the best in liquid level measurement.

Ultrasonic Level

The Ultrasonic Level Measurement is mounted on top of the vessel. Under the control of the electronic unit, the probe emits ultrasonic wave pulse to measured medium. The sound wave is reflected by the surface of medium, a part of reflection echo is received by the probe and converted into electrical signal. From the emission of the ultrasonic wave to the new reception, the time is directly proportion to the distance from the probe to the measured medium. The electronic unit detects the time and calculates out the measured distance according to the known sound velocity and obtains the level or volume of the medium.

Non Contact Radar

The Radar Level Meters are excellent devices for no contact level measurement. The microwave
impulses, emitted by the radars antenna, travel at speed of light and a part of their energy, reflected by the surface of the medium to be measured, is received by the same antenna.The period of time (flying time)
between the emission and the arrival of the impulses, is proportional to the existing distance between the antenna and the surface of the medium to be measured.

Displacer for Liquid Level and Interface

The transmitter with displacer is utilising the Archimedes Buoyancy Principle for continuous measurement of

  • level and interface
  • volume and mass
  • specific gravity (SG)

in liquid media. It is independent of pressure, temperature, conductivity, dielectric, foam or vapor. No power supply is needed.
The level measured in this way is transmitted to the display and / or the transmitter by means of a lifting rod and a magnetic coupling.

Float Level Switches – top or sidemounted

Top or sidemounted float level switches are used for measuring and checking level of tank. lt is preferred in food, ship machine, boiler and storage tank applications with its advantages such as resistance to high temperature, long life contact structure, which is operable in each, vertical or horizontal connection.

Microswitch changes direction with the movement, occurring after magnet in float arm, moving by changing liquid level, affects magnet inside body, magnetically optained contact information is assessed by transferring into applications such as pump, solenoid valve etc.

For 2 layer interface applications with two different media the float drops into the upper liquid and is buoyanced accordingly by the lower liquid. The level is detected by a mechanical lever system and a magnetic coupling without contact to the display and / or transmitter.

Liquid Level Gauges (Tubular, Transparent, Reflex, Illuminator)

Liquid level gauges are mounted to the tank as a bypass chamber. It works according the law of communicating tubes. The level in the glass tube is identical to the level in the tank and can be monitored directly. 

Tubular Level Gauges are used for observing the fluid level at low temperature & low pressure.A tubular level gauge consists of a glass tube between two shut-off-safety-valves. The valves also serve as process connection via flange, thread or welding end. 

Reflex Level Gauges are used for observing the level of various liquids by using the reflection of light –  for high pressure & high temperature but not for steam measurements.The glass of a Reflex Level Gauge is ground in a way to enable it to refract light like a prism. At the zone of liquid to measure, the light gets almost absorbed. That makes this zone very much darker than the zone of gas. By this contrast the liquid level can be observed clearly. 

Transparent Level Gauges are used for observing the fluid level for high pressure & high temperature applicable for steam measurements.Inside the stand pipe of a Transparent Level Gauge, the liquid column is placed between two glass panels, which enable to see through. This transparency makes observation of the liquid level easily possible. 

The Illuminator option for Liquid Level Gauges is used for observing the fluid level in a dim place or at night.
Complete range of size, single and double section explosion-proof illuminators are made in single and double section styles for transparent and reflex level gauges. Double section illuminators require only one bulb for complete illumination of two gauge sections.

Magnetic Level Gauges and Transmitters

Magnetic level indicators offers a reliable, accident-free and maintenance-free usage through a simple and break-resistant construction at a maximum process pressure of 320 bar and a temperature range from -50 °C through 400 °C to display the filling level of a tank. They have 3 basic parts: the chamber/tube, float and indicator. The fluid level is indicated directly with a separation of the measurement and indication area. The magnetic transfer of the fluid level from the tank to the indicator is continuous and vibration- resistant, even in the case of fast changing levels.

Capacitance Switches and Transmitters

Capacitance level instruments have a capacitive level sensor for level measurement of conductive liquid, low conductive liquid, granulated materials with solid particles, adhesive and acid/basic liquids. When a material comes between electrode rod and tank wall, a capacitance change occurs and when this change exceed adjustment threshold, contact output is delivered. Full-empty calibration can be performed easily and safely. Different designs and different solution related to industrial levelmeasurement are offered especially for machinery manufacturers.

Application Areas

Liquid tanks, food machines, cooling liquid tanks, shipping, glycol tanks, brine, waste water tanks. Oil tanks, CO2 liquid tanks, high temperature tanks, non-conductive liquids. Grain stores, cement, sand feed, flour, milk powder, organic and plastic granule. Sticky hot and high viscosity liquid, acid and chemical liquids.

Guided Wave Radar

Guided wave radar (‘radar on a rope’) transmitters are used for reliable product level monitoring. This level measurement technology is not impacted by dust, vacuum, humidity, foam, pressure changes, dielectric and temperature.

The GWR is installed on top of the tank.  A probe or cable is lowered into the vessel from the top and continuously measures the level of the product as it makes contact along its length. A microwave signal is transmitted from top to bottom and reflected back. The distance is calculated by the speed of light and the time delay.

Different probes are used for a variety of applications:

  • coaxial probes for liquids with low dielectric constants
  • single element probes for viscous products
  • twin element probes for long measurement

Interface measurement is possible if the 2 media have different dielectric constants.

GWRs are also used as combo units with Magnetic level gauges for all kinds of liquids in vessels and tanks to have a backup for power cuts or in the power start up process.

Float Level Transmitter

When magnetic field of magnet within the buoy moving along tube according to liquid level comes up to the reed sensor, it opens or closes the electric circuit. Continuous type serial aligned resistance and reed relays are engaged and disengaged. Such changes of reed sensors and alarm or level information can be assessed through a relay circuit or control device.
Precision of reed sensor increases according to lowness of its placement range. It is preferred by the users due to the advantages of providing analogue output within the housing. Furthermore, it is possible to follow and to control the process in the field through indicator.

Rotary Paddle Level Switch

Rotary Paddle level switches are used for level control of solids in silos and tanks where materials with solid particles are stored.Full and empty signals can be received by performing level control in many demanding applications with different probe and pedal varieties in a safe manner. They can be connected horizontally and vertically.

Mini Switches

Mini Level Switches are economic and easy to install devices with minimal space requirements. They are used for level measurement in machines, tanks, boilers, etc. for both liquids and gases.

The Switches can be made by Plastic (PP, PVDF, PBT, Delrin) or stainless steel.

Working Principle:

When the magnetic field in the float is aligned with the reed sensor in the tube it opens or closes the electric ciruit. When the float moves away, the sensor reverts back.
